I am trying to make this more into a real faq heh heh. I've been told this is more like a rant -_-;; Oh well anyway this faq tells about what I have dubbed them, Neo-Rp'ers. See I've been Rp'ing on AOL for quite a few years now and the biggest changes I've noticed in it have come this year. I have been Rp'ing for a while as I said but I dunno how I missed such drastic changes... maybe cause I don't join guilds or forums? In any case if you have missed out on these changes or are new and don't know about them, read on. "What is up with their profiles?" - They're profiles generally suck! I admit mine do as well, but more then not they will have some sort of lame black background, jibberish not at all pertaining to what the character is like, and a link to their site. "What do they mean by IM RP adored?" - IM RP used to be shunned to my knowledge. But these days it seems most everyone accepts it. Still this is another sign of someone using the Neo-Rp'er style. There are certain circumstances of course which RP'ing in im is the only possibilty though so that may exempt a person from being classified this way. "Mature RP only. Does this mean anything?" - Most of the people asking for this are also the ones who RP immaturely! I gather that this means the person wants serious rp'ing. "Why do they state their age like 18+ 21+?" - 18+ or some other number higher means that their mun is that age. As if I'm going to believe you really are that age just because you put it in your profile. But that's just me. If you choose to believe they are not lying about their ages then go on and do so. I doubt every one of these people are lying about their age. Most likely you put these ages in your profile so you cold get some cybering er...I mean so your character can have a loving relationship or can mate. "Nothing without Mun Consent. Will this affect my Role-playing performance with that person." - Well literally this means that I can't even make my character walk up to yours without first getting your consent. What a joke this is. Alright..it means that only certain things aren't allowed w/out the muns consent. Examples being: deathmoves, collarings, rapings. "Why do they copyright their profiles?" - This is another funny thing to find in Neo-Rp'ers profiles. They act as if they are a company and actually copyrighted their profile. Um...I'm thinking that this is just another fad. "Why do the muns claim that they're over 18+ when they sound like they're from middle school?" - Well either they aren't that old, or they are but they think it is funny(?) to sound very immature. Hey so what if you are old? No reason to act immature OOC. Here's an example! (psssst...Chastity....over here.) (<--despair) [::clings:: Lufffff yoooouuuu!] WTF is this shit? Even if you know each other in real life..this is just plain stupid! I don't know how or why anyone would think this is fun or funny. "What the hell is Domer speak?" - Yeah that's right. Most all of these stupid new "words" you see people in RP using were made up awhile ago at a POKéMON message board called the PokeDome. I don't know it's url anymore since its been down for awhile. I'll look into that. Anyway "words" such as "boi", "ish", "mah", "charrie" and so on were originally made up there. People who use them lose my respect and I think less about their maturity. Neo-Rp'ers can always be found using them. For an ever growing listing of these words go to here: Hated Words List "Why must people use really long actions?" - Well I am guessing that people think it is cool. Well it isn't. What is the point of making actions so long that you forget what it originally was? A lot of it is just jibberish that isn't even an action! ..ah well. "Why must they constantly be OOC?" - I guess the reason is because they are to lazy to go into ims or make a OOC room for themselves. Even when askedly politely all of them that I have encountered took this nice asking as offensive and basically told me to fuck off. They are the rude ones who interupt RP for pointless mun chatter. "Why set limits on words per attack?" - Cause that's their way of moding out of their char. getting smacked around of course! Okay now that you know of the differences, you should be able to tell them from real Rp'ers. Now I'm not saying Neo-Rp'ers are all bad, but these traits that they possess sure do water down Rp'ing. You may or may not choose to be like them. No biggie. Just don't over-do it. k? ^_^ -- Faq written by Lindsay Reigner. Currently using two s/n's.
