Bad move Sony. You really suck for this. Hey its nice to see you have enough fire in you to compete but at the cost of the PS2 library? Fuck that. And you know what? Fuck Nintendo for pulling GB/GBC backwards compatibility from the GB Micro and DS. And fuck Microsoft for not having any at all in their retard pack 360 models (ones with no harddrive) and shitty compatibility with all of the other versions. Backwards compatibility was well on its way to becoming something normal, something you just expect to have with a system. And now because of all of this it has been relegated back to the status of a mere "feature" and that's just wrong. There is no excuse. The game industry needs to stop relying on just the here and now. Burying its history like this fucking sucks.
(10/04/08) Oohhhhh and guess whats happened since I wrote this?! Sonys ended even the partial-BC PS3 and now Nintendo goes and pulls GBA support from the new DS model! Its over! BC is finished! They don't want us to play our old games unless they can re-sell them to us on their new systems as stupid digital downloads. Thats the whole big deal and reasoning behind all of this nonsense isn't it?? Oh for the days when ya didn't need a bajillion of your consoles and handhelds hooked up, still working and ready to go. >.< (08/21/09) Aaaaaaaaaaannnndddddd here we are again! MS has ended its "Xbox Originals" service. First they stop updating their BC catalog but now they go and decide to stop selling the games they had made BC?? I'm against digital "ownership" and all but even this made me go WTF? Why would they do that?! Great now companies won't even SELL you BC! The future of playing your old games on new systems is really awfully bleak! |
