Alright all webmasters and webmistresses tell me this! What is the deal with letting your sites die?? There's two versions of letting them die and I can't friggin choose which is worst but neither should happen! >_<
1.) Keeping the site up but not updating its main content. What I mean by that is well just look at Gamefaqs. How would you like if they stopped adding faqs but kept adding boards for games and even codes? That would be incredibly lame right? Well that's the same as you guys sitting back just updating tiny little nothings or even worse sitting in the glory of your message board! 2.) Taking your site off the web totally. Why do this?? I can understand if it's costing you money, but if it isn't then it's just wrong. Wether you're a big famous site, a little personal page maybe 1 person will ever come across, or somewhere inbetween, your work oughta stay up! Even if you quit the site altogether keep it up for the fans you may or may not know you have!! Just say the site is over but you're keeping it up for the ages or as long as the server is around. I sure hope somebody takes this to heart because I've had more then my share of favorite sites simply vanish or continue on with minimal interest from the owner. And you know what? I'm just plain sick of it. If you're sooo worried of someone e-mailing you about your site thats been dead then remove your e-mail addy from the site or just get a new one! Please! Unless it's costing you money keep your sites alive wether they're updated or not! |
